Gary Zukav's THE SEAT OF THE SOUL Now Part of NYU's Nursing Curriculum: Spiritual Growth Bestseller Continues to Reach New Audiences

Ashland, OR February 18, 2004-öThe Seat of the Soul Foundation announces today that The Seat of the Soul÷a spiritual growth bestseller that for years has remained influential around the world÷is now part of New York University's (NYU) course curriculum and reading syllabus in the school's Division of Nursing. The course, Nursing Science and Unitary Human Beings, utilizes Zukav's breakthrough spiritual philosophy in order to teach concepts of the unitary being÷the whole, undivided person.

"The Seat of the Soul is used to complement ÎNursing Science and Unitary Human Beings,' one of our nursing theory classes," says Christina McSherry, RN, instructor and doctoral candidate who teaches the required course. "I personally love the book and the message it sends."
McSherry explains that her NYU course involves the revolutionary work of Martha Rogers, a professor and head of the Division of Nursing at NYU from 1954 to 1975. Rogerian Theory÷the theory that each individual is a unitary, living open system continually engaged in a mutual dynamic process with his or her environment÷has become a philosophy that permanently changed nursing and like Zukav's work, continues to influence new audiences around the world.

"Our nursing students enjoy Gary's book immensely because it helps them to understand Rogerian Theory. Rogers, too, was a true revolutionary in the nursing field and today her theories of unitary beings stand apart. The message The Seat of the Soul and the theory are one. Basically, the combined energy between individual and environment is inseparable and integrated completely. Gary's book is important to the students and helps them understand these ideas and the meaning of the unitary human being."

Zukav authored the 1979 American Science Award-Winning The Dancing Wu Li Masters: An Overview of the New Physics. He recently co-authored with Linda Francis the October 2003 release The Mind of the Soul: Responsible Choice. Zukav and Francis develop workshops together and are currently on a U.S. Tour.
